My name is Steve Langston and I have created an 18 day tour for you to explore Manitoba on your bicycle.

If you’ve never bike toured before, this is an excellent tour to start with. The scheduled days are not too long, allowing you a good chance to happily complete the tour.

For both beginners and experts, Manitoba is an unbelievable place to bike tour. Some of my favorite stops on the tour include Whiteshell Provincial Park, Grand Beach, Riding Mountain National Park, Gimli, Lake Winnipeg, Lake Manitoba and Spruce Woods Provincial Park.

Follow the tour on your hand held device or purchase the book at a number of retailers.

I sincerely hope that this summer you have an opportunity to explore Manitoba by Bicycle.

Introduction

As you pedal your bicycle around southern Manitoba from campsite to campsite, with all the equipment that you will need to live a happy, sustainable life. You will experience Manitoba in a  way impossible by plane, train or automobile.

Bike touring is the ultimate way to get to know an area. Especially in Manitoba, expect to be approached by inquiring locals who want to know what you are up to. Through these encounters you will hear their stories and gain knowledge not possible while traveling by automobile. It will amaze you.

Each day is a unique adventure, where you will be challenged by weather, road and the physical demands of traveling without an automobile. The shortest scheduled day on this tour is 35.4 kilometres and the longest is 97.8 kilometres. It will be virtually impossible not to transform your body, get into great shape and gain confidence that will spill into other facets of your life.

Manitoba by Bicycle is a eighteen-day tour with an average ride of sixty-seven kilometres per day. This tour is designed for living on the land and sleeping in campgrounds. Every night except for one is scheduled to be spent in a campground, so you will be carrying a tent, sleeping bag and mattress. Hotels are usually available in the case of inclement weather.

A beginner cyclist can expect to average around 20 kilometres per hour. This means that if you need to bike 80 kilometres, you will need to be on your bike and pedaling for around four hours. Breaks for lunch, rest and hydration will probably add another hour or two. If everything goes as planned, with no major mechanical failures, wrong turns or impromptu soccer games, you can expect to arrive at your destination six to eight hours after you leave. Before arriving, you will have acquired food and drink to prepare at your campsite.

Upon arrival at your campsite, you set up your tent, unload your bags and have a shower. After showering you can relax, have a drink, make food and check out any local tourist attractions.
